THE BETTY WHITE SYNDROME
by ANNAPLIS BOUDOIR PHOTOGRAPHY
“I may be a senior, but so what? I’m still hot!”
— Betty White
Who doesn’t love Betty White?
At 99 years of age, she is still active mainly doing voice overs and doing guest appearances as well as being involved in her beloved charity work on behalf of animals.
And through all of this, she approaches life with an indominable joy and verve. Her spirit is infectious. We call it The Betty White Syndrome:
“The bottom line is, I’m blessed with good health. On top of that, I don’t go around thinking ‘Oh, I’m 90, I better do this or I better do that.’ I’m just Betty. I’m the same Betty that I’ve always been. Take it or leave it.”
Sassy and independent, she is a model for us all.
“Don’t try to be young. Just open your mind. Stay interested in stuff. There are so many things I won’t live long enough to find out about, but I’m still curious about them. You know people who are already saying, ‘I’m going to be 30 – oh, what am I going to do?’ Well, use that decade! Use them all!”
“I think it’s your mental attitude. So many of us start dreading age in high school and that’s a waste of a lovely life. ‘Oh… I’m 30, oh, I’m 40, oh, 50.’ Make the most of it.”
In doing our boudoir photo shoots, we have been blessed to find some other Bettys out there: women who haven’t shut themselves down as the years have passed. We haven’t had someone in their 90s come in – yet—but women in their 50s, 60s and even 70s have responded to our ads and came in for a shoot.
Like most of our boudoir clients, they come in a bit nervous- perhaps even a bit shy and unsure. But like most of our boudoir clients, they soon open up and embrace the experience
— and through it, embrace themselves.
Don’t let the thought that you are no longer 30 or even 40 stop you or even slow you down. As Betty says, “You’re never too old for anything!”
Celebrate who you are, and come out and join us on a journey of self-discovery and affirmation!
