What is the one thing I recommend you do before your boudoir session with Annapolis Boudoir Photography? It is probably not what you think. The obvious would be to do the necessary prep work such as facials, nail care, etc.

There is one thing that you need to do above all else and that is get out of your own head. A million negative thoughts will pop up in your head prior to your session such as canceling, postponing or “I can’t do this.”  At first you are so excited about the prospect of doing a boudoir session and then all the self doubts creep in.  This is very normal. You are not alone.  How to get over these negative thoughts? Glad you asked. Here are some tips and tricks to help you along the way to building your confidence.

Meditate

One thing you need to do is take some time each morning before you start your day to meditate. It could be as simple as closing your eyes and breathing in from the diaphragm through your nose and breathing out through mouth. Try to remember as you breathe in, “Smell the roses”,  and as you breathe out, “blow out the candles” If you do 5 minutes of mediation, it’s a great start. This will help  you relax and get you in a great frame of mind.

Tapping

Tapping is another great way to get out of your own head. I’ve used it on the times that I really needed to get out of a negative space.  Don’t ask me how it works. I know it just does. A good place to start is watching Brad Yates on Youtube He is my go-to when I need to get reassurance. If you haven’t done it, at least be willing to explore. I absolutely love this technique.

Journaling

Love me some journaling. Have you ever opened up to a blank page with pen in hand and have no idea how to start? Then you are on the right path. Start writing what comes in your head and soon you will see a pattern, maybe even a solution. It is so powerful.

Self Care
At least a week or so before your session, start with self care. Take a long hot bath with some oils, lavender, salts and listen to soothing music. I love listening to Harry Bosch Jazz channel on Spotify.
(I am actually listening to it now while I write this)

Drink plenty of water Stay hydrated! I can’t stress this enough.
